Saara Hopea
[サラ・ホピア；サーラ・ホペア]
1925-1984　フィンランド
1925年ポルヴォー生まれ。interior designの教師としてArttu Brummerが在籍していた、Central School Of Applied Arts(1943-1946)で学ぶ。卒業後ヘルシンキのMajander OY(1946-1948)にて家具デザインの世界に入り、その後Paavo Tynellのデザインする照明の製図士としてTaito社に勤める(1950-1952)。1952年にはNuutajarvi社に入社し才能を開花させ、ミラノトリエンナーレにて1954年にStacking glass、1957年にFlamingo glassでシルバーメダルを受賞。以後Stacking Glassは世界中で模倣され続ける。Kaj Franckと並びNuutajarvi社を代表するデザイナーに成長し、その後ジュエリーデザインやキルトデザインなど多岐にわたり活躍。Arttu Brumer、Paavo Tynell、Kaj Franckと各世代の代表的デザイナーに師事したSaaraは、自身も次世代の代表的デザイナーとなった。
