Tapio Wirkkala
[タピオ・ウィルカラ；タピオ・ウィルッカラ]
1915-1985　フィンランド
1915年ハンコ生まれ。1933年から３年間ヘルシンキの美術工芸大学で彫刻を学ぶ。卒業後、彫刻家とグラフィックデザイナーの仕事を兼任する。1947年に人生の転機が訪れることとなるイッタラ社主催のガラスコンペに応募。最優秀賞を受賞する。同時入賞としてカイフランクも最優秀賞を受賞。その後フリーランスとなりイッタラ社のガラス製品のデザイナーとなる。きのこの形をしたKantarelliなど数々の名作を残す。その他セラミックをローゼンタール社で発表しファーニチャーをアスコ社から発表する。彫刻家だったこともあり豊かな表現力で有機的なフォルムを特徴とした数々の芸術的な作品を残す。1985年没
