Karin Bjorquistは1927年スウェーデン生まれ。
1950年にGustavsberg社に入社。Wilhelm Kogeのアシスタントとしてキャリアをスタートさせる。女性デザイナーとして活躍し Veronika,Kobolt,Vardag,Svart ruterシリーズなど女性らしいデザインで人気をえ1954年にはミラノトリエンナーレでゴールドメダルを受賞する。日本にも訪れたこともありその際に柳宗悦らと民芸運動を推進した浜田庄司と交流する。日本の陶芸に興味があったこともありどこか日本らしさが感じられる作品も残す。特にIndigoシリーズなどは日本らしさが感じられる作品。Gustavsberg社を代表するデザイナーとして活躍する。スウェーデンを代表するセラミックアーティスト。
